Short outline of the history of the Hühnerhof
1834
First mention of the innkeeper of the Talhof Johannes Rieß in the Sportel registry of the town of Tuttlingen (Sportel = fee for the liquor license)
1866
The name "Hühnerhof" appears for the first time in the Trade and Commercial Register of the town of Tuttlingen. The entry reads: David Holder, proprietor of the Hühnerhof, a golden hen was put up as sign of the inn
1882
Liquor license granted to Johann Jakob Schlenker from Tuttlingen who submitted a total of five building applications between the years of 1883 and 1907
1883
A shed was added to the residential house
1891
Two story addition to the residential house
1892
Addition of a shed to the back of the residential and business building
1896
Construction of a bakehouse and pigsty behind the residential building
1897
Raising of a barn on free standing posts at a distance of 50 meters at its own location
1909
Granting of a liquor license to Georg Schlenker
1913
Bartholomäus Kniesel becomes the new proprietor of the Äußerer Talhof and runs the Hühnerhof until his death in 1925
1925
The widow of Bartholomäus Kniesel, Luise Kniesel keeps running the business with the help of her son Walter Kniesel
1955
The liquor license is transferred to Walter Kniesel
1958
After 45 years the Kniesel era comes to an end and a business permit is issued to Frau Gertrud Döbler, born Rentschler
1982
The business is transferred to Karl-Heinz Abt, who previously ran the inn Gasthof zur Sonne in Wehingen
1994
The new owner Ms. Christel Gande is granted a permission to run the Hühnerhof as bar and restaurant as well as a guest accommodation business with 14 beds
2002
The son Thomas Gande who previously ran the restaurant "Beim Haxenwirt" in Radolfzell was granted permission to run the bar and restaurant with a guest accommodation business
2003
Building permit to extend the establishment to 21 beds
2005
New construction of the adjacent buildings. The "Landhotel Hühnerhof***" now has over 44 guestrooms and 6 apartments with a total of 100 beds and 2 conference rooms. The Wellness Area offers a sauna, solarium and steam bath as well as a large outdoor area. A former shed, the "Tenne" is available for events with up to 100 seats
During the last 170 years, a small inn at the former border between the old Kingdom of Württemberg and the Grand Duchy of Baden, that was rumored to be an ore smugglers tavern during the time of the smelting of the ore that was mined on the Eck, has grown into a modern 21st Century country hotel.
